It does feel a little premature when the weather has been unusually warm, but nonetheless I must prepare for the coming season. This week I have been beavering away making two different Cranberry Preserves.
I have made Cranberry Chilli Relish - a personal favourite of mine. I put it with hot or cold meats, or with cheese. Cheese and Cranberry Chilli Relish toasted sandwiches are highly recommended! Likewise it goes well with Brie in a Panini or with Goats Cheese and a light salad.
I know not everybody likes chillies, so this year, for the first time I have also made a Cranberry Sauce - specifically for the Christmas Turkey of course. It doesn't have to be saved for the turkey though. In fact yesterday I made a baked ham, using some of the leftover Cranberry sauce mixed with a wholegrain mustard to make a cranberry and mustard glaze. Delicious!
I am hoping soon to make some Green Tomato Chutney again. It will all depend on the availability of green tomatoes of course. We have a few coming along nicely so maybe that will be next week's challenge.
