My kitchen has been very busy this week. We have tried to make the most of the nice weather, but at the same time keeps the stocks of preserves going.
I was right out of Red Onion Marmalade. It is one of those products that is very popular for a while and then wanes. Suddenly there is another burst of sales and then I have none left. It is not my favourite preserve to make as it is so pungent with the aromas of red onions and red wine vinegar permeating every corner of the house. Even with the doors and windows open and extractor fans running full time it takes a few days for the smell to dissipate! But now we are out the other side😂.
Behind the Red Onion Marmalade in the picture is Marrow Jam with Lemon & Ginger. That is a new one for me to make and I must say I rather like it😁. I remember my Mum's Marrow and Ginger Jam from years ago although I don't recall any lemon in her recipe. This is quite subtle in that it is infused with the flavours of Lemon and Ginger rather than them being overwhelming. I think I will be making this again for not only is it tasty but it looks so pretty too, with the golden colour.
In the back row of the picture is the next batch of cafe sized Raspberry Jam. This is selling so fast at the moment it is really keeping me on my toes. I can only get two jars this size out of one jam pan, so I am making very frequent batches to keep up.
You may have noticed none of these jars have any labels on yet. This is not by design! Yesterday I was without internet so was unable to print any labels. Today although I am temporarily back online I am awaiting delivery of a new router, which should come any time now. Once that is set up I will be able to print again. In the meantime I have designed new labels for the Marrow Jam, ready to print later.
