Plum Chutney is back!

Writer's picture: diversepreservesdiversepreserves

We are back into Plum Season, and I have spent this week making another batch of Plum Chutney. In fact the weather was so dire it was the best way to spend my time. It is now labelled and on the shelf - hence the sun has come out again!

Last week the weather was fantastic and we took a wee break. We took our new puppy, Bonnie over to Barra to meet her Hebridean cousins. We had a lovely few days despite the covid restrictions and were able to catch up with family and friends, albeit briefly. We actually went swimming in the sea with Bonnie, and walked and played on the beautiful beaches of Vatersay. It was a fantastic wee break - just enough to recharge the batteries. Bonnie has sent her apologies to my brother in law, whose internet cable she ate.....

So, next will be Bramble season. I am carefully watching the berries turning black. A few are ready, but the bulk of the crop will be with us soon. I always debate which is more popular bramble jam or jelly? I invariably end up making both.

I am always keen for feedback and have several products that have been added to my list due to requests. These include lemon curd, whisky marmalade and red onion marmalade. It is great making something different to ring the changes. Others I have tried, found to be less popular and have stopped making. Lime marmalade comes into this category.

Off now to deliver another selection to the Rumblin' Tum in Ardrishaig.
