Where has the year gone? Christmas is fast approaching and yet the weather is surprisingly good. Yes, I know it is only October, but we have had few frosts yet and today is another sunny day.
I have remained busy in my kitchen. There has been a huge run on Lemon Curd - not that I am complaining. I have another 50 lemons to peel and juice this weekend! Raspberry jam keeps me on my toes - I make some every week and find it hard to keep it on the shelves.
Today I had the pleasant surprise of an online order from the Isle of Islay. It reminded me that it has been far too long since I visited, which must now be over 4 years ago. For many years I went there once a month, back in my previous life :) Once this nasty virus is away we shall take there a trip on the MV Finlaggan. Neil has never been on it and I have often said he should - it is the only ferry I have ever been on that feels like a mini cruise liner!
Because of this stupid virus, many hospitality venues are closed or restricted. The Horseshoe Inn, next door has metamorphosed into a temporary tea shop, whilst they are unable to sell alcohol indoors. They are currently doing afternoon teas at the weekend, and are using my preserves to do so. I am so pleased, and hope it proves popular as they deserve for this new venture to do well. It is hard enough for anybody taking over a new business, but imagine doing that during lockdown!
Sorry, I digress. Christmas Chutney is back in stock. Christmas Chutney is very fruity, made with apricots, cranberries, dates, apples and raisins. It is a perfect winter treat or an ideal gift. Speaking of gifts, I have also started making gift packs. I like to have a selection available but also will make them up to order, with the preserves of choice.
